The Creation of the World
In the beginning, there was only the void, known as Ginnungagap. Then the fire world Muspellheim and the icy world Niflheim were born, and soon they collided, creating a giant named Ymir, the first living being. Ymir's sweat became the first humans, and Odin, Vili, and Vé, three gods, killed Ymir to create the world from his body. From Ymir's flesh, they created the earth, from his bones, they created the mountains, and from his skull, they created the sky.
The Gods and their Realm
Asgard, the realm of the gods, is a great hall overseen by Odin, the chief god, and his wife Frigg. Odin has many sons, such as Thor, the god of thunder, and Loki, the trickster god. The gods also have their own world tree, known as Yggdrasil, which connects all the realms together. The End of the World
According to prophecy, one day, the world will end. First, there will be three years of endless winter, followed by the Fimbulwinter, a time when the sun and moon disappear, and the stars fall from the sky. Then, a great war will break out between the gods and the giants, called Ragnarok. In this battle, many gods will die, and the evil forces will overwhelm the world.
